The difference between Indian Remy hair and Chinese Remy hair is in the thickness and the shape of the hair shaft. The hair shaft of Chinese hair is larger in diameter and is shaped differently than Indian hair. The hair shaft of Chinese hair is circular whereas the hair shaft of Indian hair is more oval shaped. These differences are why Indian hair feels finer and softer to the touch than Chinese hair. This doesn’t mean that Indian hair is better than Chinese hair; the hair types are just different. Both types of hair are beautiful in their own ways.

Both types of hair (Indian or Chinese) have the potential to mat and tangle if the hair has not been cared for properly, if the hair has been over processed, or if the cuticle layer has been compromised in any way (exposure to high or extreme heat, coloring, chemical processing, excessive brushing, chlorine, salt water, harsh styling products, etc.). Chemical processing always compromises the integrity of hair regardless of the origin of the hair and regardless of how minimal the processing. This is why quality styling products are necessary afterwards to maintain the integrity of the hair and this is why the hair must be cared for properly.

Due to the structure (the shape and diameter of the shaft) of Chinese hair, it requires more chemical processing than Indian or Caucasian hair to achieve certain textures. This is why Chinese hair has sometimes been associated with tangling and matting. But this doesn’t mean that Indian or Caucasian hair cannot tangle too :). It all depends on the method and extent of processing that has been done to the hair. One has to really know what they are doing when processing Chinese hair otherwise the hair can be irreversibly damaged to the point where it is difficult to style and manage. If one is careful when processing this hair, damage can be significantly minimized, the integrity of the hair can be preserved somewhat and the hair will be easy to manage.

The length of our wigs is measured from the root of each hair strand to the tip of the hair. Thus each hair strand is approximately the same length and each strand extends approximately the length stated on the website.

For our curly styles, the length is measured when the hair is straight. When the hair is in the curly state, there is some shrinkage. The shrinkage can be anywhere from 2 to 6 inches depending on the extent of the curl (i.e. looser curls have less shrinkage than tighter curls). Therefore you must account for this when ordering. If you would like the hair to actually extend the length that is listed on the site when it is curly, you would have to order a wig that is between 2 to 6 inches longer than the length stated depending on the tightness of the curl.

Due to lighting conditions, image processing limitations and varying monitor qualities, colors shown on our website may appear different from the actual colors. For custom orders especially, we ask that you be certain of your product or color choice as all hair extension and wig sales are final. If you are uncertain of your color choice, please send us a swatch of the intended hair color and we will attempt to match it to the best of our ability.

Hair Isle does not provide custom cutting, styling or coloring services at this time. Although other wig retailers may provide this service, we strongly recommend having a local stylist who specializes in wig styling, cut and style the unit while it is on your head since a great cut and style on a mannequin may not adequately portray how the unit will actually look on your head.

Our wigs can last anywhere from 3 months to 1 year or more depending on how well you take care of your unit, the type of material used to construct your wig, and the frequency of wear.

Below are some the factors will affect the lifespan of your wig:

• Wigs that are handled aggressively or that are not cared for properly or with the right products will have a decreased life span.
• Wigs worn on a daily basis or very often, or are removed and applied frequently are more liable to wear and tear simply because they are handled more often than wigs that are not.

Definitely! All of our curly wigs can easily be flat-ironed straight because they are made of human hair and can sustain the high temperatures used to straighten hair. However, our very curly textures may require more time and effort to straighten due to the tightness of the curl.

Yes! Our straight wigs can be curled by pin setting the hair, roller setting the hair, or curling the hair with a barrel curling iron.

Unless it has already been processed for color, your wig can be colored. And we’ve had many customers who have successfully colored their units. However, we don’t recommend this because the coloring process may compromise the integrity of the hair especially if it has been processed to achieve its’ texture and/or dyed already. Also, there may be some difficulty during the coloring process depending on how light you would like the color to be and what color you would like it to be since the hair may have been previously dyed to achieve the original color. 

If you do decide to color your unit, we suggest attempting to color a small test strand of the hair first to see how the color takes and how long it takes to achieve your desired color.

No. Although Hair Isle is located in New Jersey, it is a mail order business; there is not a physical store building where you can come and pick up your order.

Products classified with the texture “Virgin Wavy/Curly” means that you may receive a texture that is either wavy or curly or a mixture of both.  However, there’s a high probability that you’ll receive a texture that’s more wavy than curly, because pure curly virgin Indian Remy hair has been harder to obtain recently, especially in lengths longer than 16″.  If we do obtain a pure virgin curly texture, it is usually infrequent and in very small quantities. Therefore, we no longer have a texture classified as “Virgin Curly” since there’s a low probability that you’ll receive a texture that’s purely curly.
